Mann is a physical player at the center position that provides great energy.
He served as the alternate on the 2009 FINA World Championship roster, and was a member of the team that took the Silver Medal at the 2008 FINA World League Super Final. In his collegiate career with the Bears at UC Berkeley, he was awarded the 2006 Player of the Year Award, 2006 Cutino Award, First-Team All-American, All MPSF, and MVP of MPSF Tournament in 2006. Mann played professionally for Club C.N. Barceloneta for the 2009-2010 season where he won the Spanish Cup, and Spanish league title, and went to the top
8 in Euro-league. Mann was even featured as a top freshman athlete in September 9, 2003 and March 25, 2004 issues of Sports Illustrated’s On Campus. If it weren’t for water polo, Mann would play football. He started playing water polo because it was the only sport his high school was dominant in, and he loves to compete. John participated in his first Olympics as a member of Team USA this summer in London, England!
