Pistachio Pâté

1/2 pound each Ground beef and pork sausage
1 cup Finely chopped apple
1/2 cup Dry bread crumbs
1/4 cup Natural American pistachios, chopped
1/4 cup Chopped onion
1 Egg, beaten
1/4 teaspoon each Salt and oregano, crushed
1/8 teaspoon Coarsely ground pepper
Bibb lettuce
Cherry tomatoes
Cornichons or sour pickles


Combine ingredients in bowl; mix well. Lightly pack into 3-cup pan; smooth top so surface is level. Bake at 350° F. 50 to 60 minutes or until thoroughly cooked. Drain excess juices; cool. Cover and chill thoroughly. Cut into ¼-inch slices. Serve on lettuce-lined plates. Garnish with cherry tomatoes and cornichons.
