PISTACHIO FRENCH PUFFS

Ingredients

1 cup Grated Cheddar cheese
½ cup Butter or margarine
1 package Cream cheese, cut into cubes
1
½ tablespoons Chopped fresh oregano or thyme
1
½ teaspoons Dried tarragon or 1 tablespoon fresh chopped tarragon
3 Egg whites, whipped until stiff peaks form

cup Finely chopped, natural American pistachios
1 Thin, narrow French bread baguette, sliced

¼ to ⅓ - inch thick

Instructions

Combine Cheddar with butter and cream cheese in saucepan; stir over low heat until melted and smooth.  Stir in herbs.  Fold in egg whites.  Set aside ¼ cup of the pistachios.  Fold remainder into cheese mixture.  Spoon mixture onto bread slices, a rounded teaspoon on each.  Sprinkle with remaining pistachios.  Place on baking sheet and bake at 375° F. for 8 to 10 minutes or until golden brown and hot.  Serve immediately.
