Pistachios, when eaten with high-carbohydrate foods, may result in lower than expected blood sugar levels, an important factor in reducing risk of diabetes.
2 loaves Frozen white bread dough, thawed
3 tablespoons Butter or margarine, melted
¼ teaspoon each Oregano and thyme, crushed
1/3 to ½ cup Natural American pistachios, chopped
Divide each loaf into 16 pieces; roll each piece between palms to about 12 inches long. Shape into loose pretzel shape. Combine butter, oregano and thyme; brush tops of rolls with butter mixture and press in pistachios. Place on greased baking sheet; cover and let rest 10 minutes. Bake at 350° F. about 20 minutes or until golden.
