Pistachios, when eaten with high-carbohydrate foods, may result in lower than expected blood sugar levels, an important factor in reducing risk of diabetes.
1 pound Frozen white bread dough
6 ounces Natural American pistachios, finely chopped
1 Egg white
1 tablespoon Water
1 ½ tablespoons Coarse salt
Thaw bread dough and roll out into 12” x 16” rectangle on floured board. Lightly whip egg white with water and brush surface of bread. Sprinkle with finely chopped pistachios and salt.
Cut into 24 half-inch strips. Grasp each end and lift from board, twisting ends in opposite directions creating a spiral. Place on baking sheet, and bake in preheated 400° F. oven for 12-15 minutes.
